You know your beliefs, thoughts and emotions affect your body – they can make it sick, and they can help it heal. But there’s a serious subconscious block that many of us have that we often don’t know is there, and that can determine whether any of your attempts to heal will be successful or not.
This is a big one. I’ve discovered it in myself and in a number of my students and clients, and it makes all the difference between a body happily healing and a body refusing to heal. And it all comes down to whether or not you actually want to be here.
CHOOSE LIFE
This post continues our series on healing the physical body from a spiritual and energetic perspective. Because, of course, our bodies are made of energy just like everything else we see around us, and so deep and profound healing definitely needs to take the energetic level into account. Your energy is basically a product of your consciousness, which means you are in control of your body even though it often doesn’t feel like it. Your thoughts, emotions and beliefs, both conscious and unconscious, affect how and how fast your body heals.
So, bearing that in mind, I’ve got a serious question for you: How can your body heal when it thinks that deep down you don’t want to be here? When at least a part of you doesn’t want to be on this planet, doesn’t want to be in this life, and doesn’t want to be in this body? Really stop and think about this for a second… you could be conscious of this part of you, or it could be more unconscious, but ask yourself if there’s a part of you that doesn’t want to be here. This is important because it affects whether your body heals and thrives, or doesn’t.
Obviously, I know life on this planet is not an easy one. If we wanted a vacation, we would have incarnated somewhere else. We came here because we wanted an adventure, most likely, and what fun is an adventure without a few mountains to climb? Especially those high peaks where you’re kind of not sure you’re going to make it, and your thighs are burning and the air is thin, and then when you do reach the top it’s exhilarating and empowering (Any other hikers out there?)…
We could have stayed home and stayed merged in that soup of unity consciousness, perfectly one with Source, but, just for fun, we chose to separate a bit, take on a body, be born on the soil of this Earth, and traverse the dark and the light as the adventurers in consciousness that all of us definitely are.
That’s all easy to say: “Perhaps our soul’s enjoying the challenge.” But when we’re in the thick of things, when things get hard and we don’t know if we’re going to make it, we may second-guess our decision to come here. Especially when we’ve got physical pain and illness that makes every day a chore, or when we’ve got emotional pain that drives us to desperation.
I know what that’s like, because more than once I’ve wished life would take pity on me and just end. Just put me out of my misery. I get it, I’ve been there. But ending things is not the solution. (If you didn’t know, people who do that almost always end up repeating that same lifetime again and again until they finally fix their problems and complete their lifetime successfully. So trust me, that is not an option, in case anyone needed to hear that. Let’s get it right the first time, shall we?)
GROUNDING + FEELING = HEALING
You need to choose life. Commit to being here. If you’ve got some trauma and limiting beliefs around being here, it’s quite simple to change that and I’ve got some great resources for you. Beyond that, there are some very easy techniques you can start doing today to profoundly shift your energy, commit to life, and help yourself heal.
1. Commit to being on this planet. This planet is a beautiful one and she provides everything you need. You are a part of the Earth like fruit grows from the tree. So to improve your health, really reaffirm your commitment and connection to her every day through grounding both physically and energetically.
Physically, try to find a bit of nature as often as you can, every day if possible, and ground your body by touching a tree or putting your bare feet on the grass. Your body is electromagnetic and it needs to ground to discharge the electromagnetic energy that builds up when we stay indoors and use our technological devices, and then move around on rubber-soled shoes and car tires. The buildup of positive ions is released into the Earth, and in return the Earth sends you negative ions to neutralize your electric charge. This is super healthy, and there is a ton of research on its benefits for all types of pain and illness.
Metaphysically, you can ground into the Earth by imagining a cord of light extending from the base of your spine and reaching all the way down to the core of the Earth. You can also see it as energetic roots extending from your feet and reaching deep into the Earth that way. When you connect in with her, you’ll usually feel a rush of energy come back up, as she responds to you. Gaia will also help you to recycle some of those energies that are no longer serving you and send them back to you refreshed, recycled and renewed to really support your healing process.
2. Commit to your body. And I mean literally decide to be in your body. Regardless of how you judge your body as being the wrong body or the right one, perfect or imperfect, if you want your body to heal you’ve got to want to be in it. And what I mean by that is to actually bring your awareness back from whatever you’ve been thinking about, from other people and places, from the past and the future, and pull it right back into your body.
This will put you into the present moment, which is where all of your power to heal is, and it will bring your powerful awareness into those places in your body that need your attention. And then all you need to heal the energetic root causes of your symptoms is to give your attention to those parts with the right intention. That’s how you start.
So then, once you’re in your body you need to actually feel it. How many coping strategies do we have to avoid feeling our bodies? Too many to count. If you’re going to help your body heal by somatically processing the stuck emotions and traumas in your body like I’ve talked about before, you must start by feeling all the sensations in your body, whether pleasant or unpleasant.
Even unpleasant sensations are messages from your body that need your attention, and when you place your attention on the pain and discomfort in your body with an attitude of curiosity and pure acceptance, it can start to unravel and dissolve because its message has been received, and then there is no need for the pain or the symptoms to stay because they have served their purpose and brought you to a state of greater healing and expansion.
Not to worry: I’ve created a free course for you on exactly this, on grounding and being in the body and preparing your field for the deep transformative healing work, which you can access for free, including all the guided meditations to take you through it all step by step, HERE. It’s my gift to you because it’s super important that we all learn this.
And then if you’d like to do more in-depth healing work and learn to dissolve your pain into light in the heightened energies of a group and get all of your questions answered, I’m hosting an online retreat soon that you’re really going to love. You can sign up HERE.
So, that’s the secret, my friend. Healing the body is a lot easier when you actually want to be in it. Even if you don’t think you have this block, do a bit of inquiry because sometimes it can be more unconscious.
Choose life. Choose to climb this mountain not because you’re going to get anywhere, but because it’s an adventure. You’ve already won the prize by coming here and making it through. You’re already worth it. You’re already worthy. This is your chance to reaffirm your commitment to being here, in this body and on this planet and start to enjoy the adventure.
Say YES to life no matter what it brings. Your body will thank you and you deserve to feel relief, to feel empowered, and to truly experience life as something magical again. No matter what’s happening around you, you’re allowed to love life. You’re allowed to be happy.
Be brave, be the light that you are.
Namaste, my friend.
