How much of you actually believes healing is possible for you? Do you ever get the sense that there’s a part of yourself that resists being healed and happy? Is there a part of you maybe that doesn’t believe you’re worth it, or that doesn’t trust your own ability to heal?
If so, you’re not alone. Most of the clients I work with do deal with limiting beliefs and mental programs that keep them from complete physical or emotional healing, and it’s totally understandable. We all let our mind run wild at times. But there are some very simple, straightforward ways to quiet those negative thought loops and reprogram your mind to think thoughts that actually help you heal.
Your healing could be just one thought away. All it takes is a shift in perspective, and an openness to discover how powerful you truly are.
YOUR MIND IS YOUR FRIEND
In today’s post, I’d like to look at healing the physical body through the lens of the mind. We’ve previously discussed a lot of the emotional and spiritual aspects of healing our bodies, but we haven’t talked a lot about the mind. And the mind too is interconnected with our body, our emotions, and our soul essence and connection to Source. They’re all interrelated and they all affect one another.
Now, the mind is tricky and it gets a bad rap, and that’s usually because it seems to want to take over and run the show. But, in itself, the mind is actually a well-meaning assistant and just like all the other parts of you (emotions, body, subconscious parts), it wants to help you. Even when your mind is spinning in negative thought loops and resisting your healing, it’s doing so because it thinks it’s helping you. There’s actually no such thing as self-sabotage. Even though it seems like it, there’s no part of you that actually wants to harm you.
If you’ve got some self-criticizing thoughts, for example, your mind may think it’s helping you by criticizing you. It may not make logical sense, but subconsciously – and yes, this is a subconscious mental program – this part of you may have decided at some point in the past that criticizing yourself was necessary to keep you in line, and thus safe from societal punishments or judgment. Or, the self-criticism could be a subconscious way of keeping you safe from other people’s criticism…. something like, “If I criticize myself first, then others won’t do so, and it’s less painful or shameful when I do it versus when others do it.”
Now, just that awareness alone may help you see yourself and your mind in a more compassionate light. Your mind is not out to get you and it’s not your enemy. And then, while you can start to appreciate your mind a bit more and not feel like a total victim or like you need to fight your mind, you may still see that these negative mental programs are doing more harm than good. Especially in the case of physical healing, your beliefs and mental programs may be limiting your capacity to heal, and even resisting your own healing. But now you know that there’s a reason for it and that your mind thinks that resisting healing will benefit you in some way – subconsciously.
A recent example is that a number of people have expressed disbelief that the self-healing methods I’ve been teaching you here are even possible for them. Some common limiting beliefs around healing are things like…
“This may work for others, but not for me. My case is beyond fixing.”
Another one is: “This is total nonsense, self-healing just doesn’t work, it’s a lie, it can’t be true. Where’s the scientific proof?”
Or… “It must be evil or wrong, because taking our healing into our own hands would mean disobeying some societal, religious or moral law.”
And since your mind is a loyal servant, if that’s what you want to think that’s how it will be. When you look at reality, that’s what you will perceive through your mental filter and you’ll choose to only see evidence for why you can’t heal yourself.
While doubt itself has value, because you want to be cautious and carefully discern what’s right for you and what feels true, and not just believe me or anyone else just because they say so, if you want to move beyond that and are curious to discover your true (very human) superpowers for self-healing and transformation, you may want to change… your mind. Change your limiting beliefs and mental programs. Keep your discernment, but recycle your limitations into possibilities.
When you open your mind to the possibility that you can help yourself heal, everything changes. Your whole identity and sense of self changes. You become the hero in your own story, not the victim. And that is why I am here – to remind you just how powerful you are.
MIND : BODY : HEART : SOUL
So, to work with limiting beliefs or an out-of-control mind, we’re going to use the other three aspects of ourselves, namely the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our beings.
Physically, not only is our body affected by our mind and listens to our mind to try and follow the mind’s orders, we can also use our body to relax and quiet the mind. It’s as simple as bringing our awareness into your body, and immediately you’ll notice your thoughts start to quiet down in general. And that’s because you’re arriving back in the present moment, the here and now, and you’re not floating around analyzing the past or the future, or other people, places or events.
When you get back in the body, you’re present. And really make an effort to bring your awareness back and down, because we tend to go up and out just during the day thinking, making plans, etc. Really anchor your thoughts in the back of your head, and you’ll notice your thoughts already start to slow down.
Emotionally, you’ll notice your thoughts and emotions kind of feed each other in a cycle, where your emotions bring on certain thoughts and then your thoughts can amplify the emotions and so on.
In my work with people, I’ve noticed that if you address the emotional root cause, and heal the emotional trauma that’s triggering your negative thought spiral or a no-longer-helpful limiting belief, that’s usually enough to change your thoughts, although if you’ve got a really ingrained pattern it might take a little bit more work, which is why we also look at the mind from a spiritual perspective.
So spiritually, your connection and identification with your infinite divine nature is what will give you the final part of the puzzle and it’s the key to truly mastering your mind. If you think you are your thoughts, you won’t win. You’ll feel powerless to those negative thoughts and limiting beliefs. But, when you intend to stand in your power as unlimited awareness, as your beautiful soul essence not separate from the divine and everything that exists, your mind pales in comparison and it loses its power over you. You love your mind, but it does not control you.
As the captain of your ship, then, when you notice a negative thought coming in, you speak to the mind: “Thank you mind,” because that disarms the mind, “but you no longer need to think that. I am the soul in charge and my plan is to think only positive thoughts about myself (or to truly believe that complete healing is possible for me).”
For sure, there are other ways to work with the mind, but this will give you a good overview and some simple, easy methods to switch up your perspective and get your mind on board with your healing. Additionally, you can also deal with your subconscious parts, for example, which is a different method, but I do teach that in my private trainings so if you need more support just reach out.
I’m here for you and I believe in you. I see all of you gathering closer week by week to learn a bit more, debating whether or not you should dare to believe that self-healing is possible for you.
And I can tell you without a doubt that everything is possible in consciousness and there is nothing that cannot be healed if Source truly intends it to be so. And then whatever unfolds for you will take you to where your soul wants to go.
May it be so, in divine order and timing, according to divine will, that the perfect right healing and perfect right expansion come to you and show you the true brilliance of who you really are.
Be brave. Be the light that you are.
Namaste my friend.
