Empaths, you know I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for you! If you’re on a healing journey and you’re doing everything right and you’re listening compassionately to your body’s messages and doing the inner work and, even still, your body’s symptoms seem like they’re not responding, consider this: That pain might not even be yours.
I’m going to give you some tough love here, because I’m exactly the same as you and I have taken on other people’s pain for most of my life. I’m here to save you years of your life by giving it to you straight: Absorbing the world’s pain could be making you sick. It could be part of the pain you’re carrying, whether emotional or physical.
And the only one who can change it is you.
IT’S NOT YOURS TO HEAL
In this post, I’m continuing my series on working with the physical body from a spiritual and energetic perspective, which means not only allowing the body to heal itself, but literally enlightening ourselves – lightening the energetic load we are carrying and filling ourselves with the infinite divine light of Source, our true soul’s essence, and the peace and empowerment that come with that.
In the last post, I described the exact process I use to turn my pain into light, simultaneously healing both physically and emotionally. Basically, it involves welcoming the wisdom in our pain and allowing our body to speak to us through our symptoms, so that instead of resisting and ignoring the body’s messages, we start to listen. And then, once the message has been received, the pain has served its purpose and can dissolve back into the light of consciousness. It’s a form of spiritual and somatic processing that heals the energetic and emotional root cause of our body’s symptoms. I’ll link it HERE in case you missed it.
Now, I have an urgent message for you empaths out there who are absorbing other people’s pain and suffering greatly because of it. I’m quite aware of the heavy energies in this world, being empathic myself. And yes, it’s beautiful that you’re so empathetic and compassionate – it’s really part of your superpower, and for sure we need more compassion in the world. But (and I say this with all the compassion in the world) bringing others’ pain into your own energetic field means you feel their pain and you suffer right along with them. You know this. You are not removing their pain to make them feel better – they still have it. And now, you are amplifying the pain in the world, and you know this because it doesn’t feel good. I did this for many many years, so I know very well what that’s like and I’m not judging anyone because we all have big compassionate hearts and there’s nothing wrong with that.
I just want to say that if you try out my suggestion of welcoming your pain to transmute and dissolve it in love and acceptance, it will work very well if it’s your own pain and your own trauma and your own body’s message to you. However, it will not work if the pain is not yours! You cannot process pain that is not yours. Other people’s emotional and energetic pain will create the same symptoms of pain and illness in your body as your own trauma would, but the difference is you cannot and should not process and heal it. It is not yours to process or heal, and it won’t work even if you try.
CLEAR & BRIGHT
So, my dear empaths, I have 3 very important suggestions for you to consider in order to both feel better in your body and help the world.
The first is that, before you do any healing work on yourself, please send all energies that do not belong to you out of your body and field and back to wherever they need to go. It’s a very simple process, and it doesn’t mean you’re rejecting anyone or making anyone suffer more. It works like this: Your soul’s energy comes through your heart to create your body and your auric field around you as an expression of your unique essence. But you don’t have only one auric field, you have two: an inner one which should have only your own energy inside it, and an outer one, which is much bigger and is constantly interacting with the world.
So, when we send those external energies out of our inner field, they go into our outer field, where they can then move through and go where they need to go. Maybe they go back to where they came from, and maybe they go somewhere else – it’s not our job to decide, it happens automatically. Giving those energies the use of our outer field to move and go where they need to go is a great service we empaths do for the world with our big outer fields and we don’t even know it.
But where it starts to become unhealthy is when we bring those other energies into our inner field, where we feel them as if they were ours. And that’s how they can then develop into physical pain and illness.
Just intend for them to go, tell your body to release them and send them on their way. Really push them out and feel them go. And then you want to bring all of your awareness back into your body, so that you are occupying all of that space and there are no empty gaps. If you want some guided meditations and a course on how to do all of this step-by-step, you can get it for free HERE. Once you get the hang of it you can easily do this multiple times a day if needed.
Ok, another benefit of doing this is that it will be much easier for you to witness the world’s pain with compassion but also with equanimity and inner peace. It’s good to be aware of what’s going on in the world so that we can cultivate compassion and take action when needed, but it is NOT necessary for us to suffer. And that is how you do it. It will at least help.
So now, 2 things have happened. You have sent out energies that may be causing your physical symptoms, so you’ll already feel better and avoid future symptoms, AND now you have cut through the noise so that you can identify what are actually your traumas and blocked energies that need your attention and healing presence. And only then can you truly heal. Then you can alchemize your emotions and dissolve your pain into light.
GET TO THE ROOT
Ok, the second of the three is simply a suggestion, but I suggest that you take a look at the subconscious fear hiding inside you that makes you want to absorb other people’s energies in the first place. Because being sensitive is one thing, but actively taking on other people’s emotions is a coping strategy.
That’s why sometimes I call myself a recovering empath, because I learned to do that as a child, as most of us do, in order to ease the pain and conflict in the people around me growing up and thus indirectly ease my own pain. Once I dealt with that trauma, I was able to have healthy boundaries and be compassionate without suffering and being a victim.
SOUL-LEVEL CONFIDENCE
And so, if you’ve been doing the first two things, clearing your field daily and processing your own pain, then the third and final piece to this is to be so fully present in your own energy and so clear and bright because you’ve been dissolving the density and trauma in your field, that your beautiful soul’s essence, your unique stream of Source consciousness, is shining so brightly that you become the dominant energy in the room. That means you’re not afraid or anxious or paranoid that other people’s energy might touch you and make you sick or something. Paranoia just brings more of what you fear.
What you want is to shine so confidently that you know you are an infinite and immortal soul, you know nothing can hurt the real you, you know your body heals naturally, and you know the whole universe is conspiring to help you because you are wise, you are discerning, you are loving and compassionate, and you are divinely connected. And that means you are powerful.
That is how you stay healthy, and when symptoms do come up you’re unconcerned because you know exactly what to do and you’re in full acceptance regardless of the outcome. Clarify and purify your field until it’s all you all the time. That’s how you heal, that’s how you align your awareness more and more with Source, and that’s how you rewild your soul.
If you want more of this, come to my retreat on healing the body with light. We’ll do this together in real time so that the energies are super-amplified for healing and rejuvenation. You can join HERE, and until next time,
Be brave; be the light that you are.
Namaste, my friend.
